Widge the Rat was my first fursuit ever. Since rats are my favorite animals, that was what I started with. It's not my best costume, but it isn't bad for a first attempt.
The costume is built around a unitard with foam padding and fur attached directly to it. The head is made with a wireframe construction. After it was completed, I discovered that the head had a significant fogging problem with the solid plastic eyes so I added some ventilation. This was done by giving Widge "headphones" which were small box fans in disguise; the headphones were permanently mounted on top of vent holes in the side of the head.
