3M Fastbond 100

Fastbond 100 is a foam-specific glue produced by 3M. It's part of a family of foam glues that they produce. It's a single-part version of the better-known Fastbond 2000. Both of them are a neoprene spray adhesive with a water base.

Although this glue can be used with other materials, it is really designed for foam rubber. When dry, it leaves a thin glue line that is surprisingly strong. In fact, the foam around it will tear before the glue seam. The glue line also remains fully flexible so that it won't inhibit the foam's movement or compression.

Using Fastbond

Spray adhesives come as a liquid which you must apply. The proper way to do this is with an air compressor and spray gun. However, for small-scale applications such as in fursuiting, it's more convenient to apply it with a brush. Use a disposable stiff-bristled brush and apply it lightly across the surface of the foam.

I highly recommend Fastbond for work with foam. It's easy to work with and relatively safe. It dries fast enough that you can apply it and then hold the foam pieces in place with your hands. If you hold the foam together for 30 seconds, the bond should be firm enough to hold itself. The Fastbond should be at near full bond strength within a half hour.
